Nanny's Birthday Meal - 21/07/2015

July 22nd is actually Nanny Jane's birthday but for some reason we decided to have her birthday meal on the 21st.

The star of the show:

Zak's mum and dad decided to take Nanny to the Miller and Carter Steakhouse in Pickhurst Lane, Bromley. We had never been there before so it was something new for everyone.

The table was booked for 7:30 however when Grand Dad and Nanny turned up there was no sign of Zak or his mum and dad. It turned out they were running slightly late. They had to wait in the bar where grand dad had to force himself to have a Budweiser.

When we go shown to our table we noticed that there wasn't many people in there although Zak's mum and dad did find a party of people they knew!

The menu was quite extensive but of course the highlight was the steaks. While the others were making their minds up as what to have granddad had to stand up and hold Zak because he wanted to have a look around and the carrycot he was in was getting on his nerves!

This is what he thought of things.

Zak's mum decided that we could all have starters. Nanny and Zak's dad had prawns, granddad had chicken wings while Zak's mum had calamari. Very nice.

Everyone had steak as the main course and we all agreed they were fantastic. Zak's mum and graddad had the surf 'n' turf option. Zak's dad had the salmon which he said was also very nice.

Here's what Zak's mum had:

This is what Zak's dad had, nice piece of salmon.

Everyone was stuffed to the brim after the main course however by some miracle Zak's mum and dad and of course nanny found room to have a dessert!

Here is what Zack's dad had:

Grand dad had another Bud and a walk round with Zak while the others gorged themselves.

Here's grand dad looking not too pleased with things!

All the excitement got to Zak in the end!

It was nearly 10 pm when we all headed home. Everyone agreed it was a great evening. Nanny sure had a good birthday meal.

Zoey Goes To Hastings 07/06/2015

Today Zoey, nanny and granddad decided to visit Hastings by the sea. The sun was shining when we set off at about 10:30 so it looked like we would have a good day.

Zoey stayed awake for at least the first five minutes! The drive down was uneventful until just after the Tonbridge by-pass when we encountered a traffic jam brought about by roadworks, great. This was compounded by the fact that the petrol warning light came on! Nanny began to panic, no one else did.

When we finally came out of it we found a petrol station where granddad's age caught up with him and he had to have a jimmy!

We carried on our journey into Hastings where granddad made a wrong turn. Nanny told him off before he turned round and got back on the right road.

Finally we got to Hastings. The signs said that the car park on the front was full so we had to park in a shopping centre. Nanny was happy. It only cost a pound to stay there all day so that was a result.

The walk to the font wasn't that long and when we got there granddad noticed that things had changed somewhat since he'd last been there 20 years or so years ago!

As the time was about 1 pm we decided to have some lunch. Zoey had chips while nanny and granddad had a toasted tea cake and a cup of tea. Zoey then had some of granddads tea cake!

Here is Zoey looking to see where her chips are!

Now she has seen that they are coming!

Here's Zoey having spotted her chips!

We then went off for a stroll. Zoey is a good walker and a very fast runner, problem is, she has no sense of direction. A right menace. Poor old nanny couldn't catch her!

While we were walking along the front Zoey's attention was grabbed by the mini roller coaster. She stood there for ages watching it go round. It must have been the lights and sounds. A good sign for the future.

Here she is watching the ride.

After catching Zoey after her latest bolt for freedom we continued along the front. Nanny spotted a booth selling do-nuts so we had to stop for a rest and four severely overpriced do-nuts. Zoey like them but not the wait until they cooled down.

You can see wrestling nanny for one here!

This is what she thought of the do-nuts.

Hastings hasn't really got much to offer little ones aside from a few rides. For adults there a few decidedly dodgy pubs and a couple of seafood stalls, it was to one of these we headed to next.

Here's Zoey after being told where we were going!

Granddad and nanny shared a platter of cockles, mussels, crayfish, prawns and a crabstick. I offered some to Zoey but she wasn't having any of it.

Here she is studying the menu!

We decided at that point to head off to the shopping centre where nanny bought Zoey a pair of pyjamas and granddad bought Zack something to play with in the bath. He was going to get a Batman t-shirt but nanny wouldn't let him buy it.

"Where are we going next?"

Here's what Zoey thought of the shopping trip!

After we were thrown out of the shops because they were closing Nanny said she was too tired to walk back to the place where we were going to have dinner so we all agreed to go to the Frankie & Benny's which we pass on the way home.

Here's Zoey asking Nanny if she can have steak.

The meal was really good, Zoey had chicken, chips and beans, Granddad had a steak while nanny had a fancy chicken dish. Zoey also managed to wangle two balloons.

Here she is trying to get one!

Nanny found someone's ring in the toilets. We did the right thing and handed it back.

While we were waiting for dinner Zoey did some artwork.

Here's Zoey showing that she likes ice cream as much as grand dad!

After dinner was finished we took Zoey home. And yes she fell asleep again.

Zoey's First Driving Lesson 26/05/2015

Today Zoey had her first driving lesson.

Here are some photos showing how it went!

"Let's go, I'm behind the wheel and taking no prisoners!"

This is not a hand signal!

Oh! Did I hit something?

Devil driver!

You mean it has brakes!

Day Trip To Southend 03/05/2015

Today we went to Southend to visit Nanny Seaside. Originally it was just going to be Granddad Ken, Nanny Jane and Zoey however Auntie Kerry, Uncle Sonny and Zach decided to come along too.

Zach went down with his mum and dad while Zoey went earlier with granddad Ken and doolally nanny so that they could visit the cockle sheds and stuff themselves with seafood.

Here is Zoey in the cafe at Leigh-on-sea having some seafood and a biscuit whilst standing on a chair. There wasn't any high chairs to be had!

The weather wasn't the best today as can be seen from these two misty photos and the better third one. One of the few times the tide has been in when they have been done there. Zoey got to see the sea (river!).

Here is Zoey in Grand dad's mums garden. There was plenty of room for her to run around. She enjoyed being chased and having her ball bounced off her head!

Zach was worn out by the time he got to Nanny Seaside's house. That driving takes it out of you!

Here is Zoey with Uncle Sonny. She used to be frightened of him I can't think why.

The sea air had obviously made Zach sleepy. His mum wishes he would sleep at night.

When we got to the sea front Zach decided to wake up.

When we got to the seafront Zach's mum and dad just had to stop for some sea food!

After we looked at all the rides we stopped in the Fisherman's Wharf restaurant for some dinner. Here's Zoey having her Chicken, chips and beans.

Here is Zach having his dinner. He was having milk!

So that is what happened when they went to Sarf-end for the day.
